Victims and Civil Society Organizations Submit Draft Amendment Proposals on Transitional Justice Law

On 14 July, various victims and civil society organizations including Amnesty International Nepal submitted a draft three-column amendment document on transitional justice law to the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Govinda Sharma Koirala in his office in Singhadurbar. Heartily accepting the draft amendment document, Minister Koirala thanked the delegation and conveyed that he was “working very hard to diffuse the political bottleneck for the smooth passage of the bill that will likely be proposed in the parliament within next few days.”

The Minister reiterated with the delegation that all the stakeholders of the process needed to be brought on board in order to sail the process to a logical conclusion because without the cooperation from all the stakeholders concerned, the process would again likely fail.
