Amnesty International Nepal organized a mock voting programme under the Myanmar freedom campaign in its national secretariat in Kathmandu on 3 November, 2010. On the occasion about one hundred members of AI Nepal representing from various local Groups and Youth Networks participated.
They demanded 3 freedoms in Myanmar in the eve of the general election fixed for November 7, 2010 by casting the vote.
They also sent online letter to the Foreign Minister of ASEAN countries urging to work with all ASEAN states to uphold the binding principles of the ASEAN charter, for “respect for fundamental freedoms, the promotion and protection of human rights, and social justice”, by pressing the Myanmar government.
On the occasion, Chairperson of AI Nepal Hem Kumar Khadka emphasized about the human rights situation in Myanmar.
