Letter Writing Marathon Concluded in Nepal

64th International Human Rights Day Special

Amnesty International Nepal organized ‘Letter Writing Marathon’ on 9 and 10 December 2012 raising concern over individuals as risk from different countries. Marking international human rights day, it organized letter signing events (named “letter Writing Marathon”) in managerial support of its affiliated local Groups and Youth Networks.

At least 9 such events took place in Kathmandu which includes Basantapur (managed by Group 18, Kathmandu), New Baneshwar (managed by Group 20, Kathmandu), Balaju (managed by Group 21, Kathmandu), New Road (managed by Group 32, Kathmandu), Chuchchepati (managed by Group 35, Kathmandu), Basantapur (managed by Group 61, lalitpur and organized on 9 December), Chabahil (managed by Group-80, Kathmandu) Basantapur (managed by RR Youth Network, Kathmandu) and at Pulchowk (managed by Engineering Youth Network, Lalitpur). The participants of the cycle rally which was organized by AI Nepal to call for an end of impunity also attended some of the letter writing marathon events.

In every December, hundreds of thousands of people all over the world mark Amnesty International’s global letter writing marathon.
