Amnesty International Nepal’s General Meeting elects a National Board (NB) for a term of three years to oversee and guide its human rights work. The NB prepares policies to ensure the implementation of decisions of the Global Assembly (GA). Additionally, the NB follows recommendations and decisions taken at the General Meeting and ensures their successful implementation. It also reviews and evaluates the activities of Amnesty Nepal and its membership. The NB consists of a directly elected Chair, a directly elected Treasurer, and nine members elected by the General Meeting. The first meeting of the newly elected Board appoints the Vice Chairperson, General Secretary, and Deputy General Secretary. The NB also includes a minimum of three women and two youths, one of whom is female.
The Appeal Committee is responsible for handling appeals related to decisions made by the National Board in relation to the dissolution and/or de-recognition of Groups and Youth Networks and non-renewal of membership. It ensures that all appeals are reviewed fairly and impartially. The committee operates under the guidelines set forth in the AI Nepal Appeal Committee By-law, 2006.
The Nomination Committee is tasked with identifying and nominating suitable candidates for various positions within Amnesty International Nepal. It ensures that the nomination process is transparent and inclusive.
The Preparatory Committee (PrepCom) is responsible for the planning, coordination, preparation, management and execution of Regional/Provincial Forums and Annual General Meeting. The PrepCom works closely with other committees and the National Board to align its activities with the overall goals and objectives of Amnesty International Nepal.
