Amnesty Nepal ran its human rights education programme on a bigger scale in 2018, conducting training sessions for over 60 of its members in Letang and Gaidakot. These members then took the human rights education programme to schools in 22 districts of Nepal. By the end of the year, they had conducted classes on human rights for over 19,000 school children.
The trainers and members then gathered for a review of the education programme of 2018 in Pokhara on 9 February. The agenda included sharing experiences of running the programme, challenges, and suggestions for future programmes.
Amnesty Nepal has also been lobbying with the government to include human rights education in a more comprehensive manner within the school curriculum.
