Aerial art petition event in Kathmandu

Amnesty International (AI) Nepal, by organizing an aerial art petition event in Kathmandu, called on the Chinese authority to ensure a positive human rights legacy for the Beijing. The event was organized to mark a global day of action on Saturday, 12 July.

More than 350 Amnesty International members, supporters and people from Tibetan community teamed up with the circle to create an image of a word “JUSTICE” on the ground which was fully visible from the above.

Created on the eve of the anniversary of Beijing being granted the 2008 Olympics, this powerful “visual petition” was an appeal to the Chinese authorities to honour the commitment they made in 2001 to improve human rights in China.

Acting Chairperson of AI Nepal Dhruba Kumar Karki addressed the mass and clarified the objective of the event. General Secretary Chandra Kumar Adhikari, National Executive Committee Members Keshab Sigdel, Geeta Neupane, Sharada Sharma and Bikram Dhukuchhu were among others attending the program.
