Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the International Commission of Jurists urge Prime Minister K.P. Oli to address the pressing need for credible appointments to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons. In our letter to the Prime Minister, we stress the importance of appointing impartial, competent, and widely trusted individuals to ensure the commissions effectively address human rights violations from Nepal’s internal armed conflict. The letter further calls for transparency, inclusivity, and adherence to international human rights standards, urging the government to prioritise justice, truth, and reparations for victims through a legitimate and credible transitional justice process.
