Nepal: Extend Time for Public Consultation on New Constitution Repeal Regressive Aspects of Draft

Amnesty International issued a statement, explaining its position on the draft constitution on 22 July. In the statement the organisation expressed concern about there not being sufficient protection for the rights of women and marginalised communities in the draft constitution and called on lawmakers to address a number of shortcomings.

Nepal’s new draft constitution, adopted by the country’s Constituent Assembly on June 7, 2015 was put forward for a two-week public consultation period.
