एम्नेस्टी इन्टरनेसनल नेपाल (एम्नेस्टी नेपाल) ले आफ्नो अट्ठाइसौँ वार्षिक साधारण सभा सुनसरी जिल्लाको धरान उपमहानगरपालिकामा कात्तिक २२ र २३ गते आयोजना गर्दैछ । देशभरीबाट धरानमा जम्मा हुने एम्नेस्टी नेपालका समूह प्रतिनिधिहरूको भेलाले नेपालमा गहिरो रूपमा जरा गाडेर रहेको दण्डहीनतालाई अन्त्य गर्ने सवालमा आफ्ना गतिविधिहरूसम्बन्धी परिदृष्यलाई साटासाट गर्दै एम्नेस्टीका सबै सदस्य र समर्थकहरूलाई “अन्यायलाई व्यक्तिगत रूपमा लिन” र त्यसविरुद्ध लाग्न प्रोत्साहित गर्नेछ ।
नेपालको संविधानले मौलिक हकसम्बन्धी थुप्रै व्यवस्था गरेको भएपनि आम नागरिकहरू खासगरी सीमान्तकृत समुदायले यी हकहरूलाई पूर्ण रूपमा प्राप्ति गर्ने सवालमा अझै लामो यात्रा तय गर्नुपर्ने छ किनकी यी हकहरूलाई कार्यान्वयन गर्ने कानुनी र संस्थागत संरचनाहरूको अभाव मात्र नभई त्यस दिशामा सरकारले एकदमै ढिलो गतिमा काम गरिरहेको अवस्था छ । यसका अतिरिक्त थुप्रै प्रकृतिका मानवअधिकार उल्लङ्घनका घटनाहरू नेपाल लगायत संसारभरी अझै व्यापक रूपमा घटिरहेका छन् र एम्नेस्टी नेपालको यस भेलाले यी चुनौतीहरूको सामना गर्नका लागि आफ्नो मानवअधिकारसम्बन्धी रणनीति र कार्ययोजना तयार गर्नेछ ।
“साधारण सभाको उद्घाटन कात्तिक २२ गते दिउँसो २ बजे धरानस्थित होटल गजुर प्यालेसमा हुनेछ र उक्त सभामा प्रमुख अतिथिका रूपमा राष्ट्रिय मानवअधिकार आयोगका अध्यक्ष माननीय अनूप राज शर्माको उपस्थिति रहनेछ”, एम्नेस्टी नेपालका निर्देशक निराजन थपलियाले भने । “साधारण सभाको उद्घाटनपछि एम्नेस्टीका प्रतिनिधिहरूले केन्द्रीय प्रविधि क्याम्पस धरानका एम्नेस्टी नेपालमा अबद्ध युथ नेटवर्कका सदस्यहरूद्वारा महिला हिंसाविरुद्ध गरिने एक सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रममा सहभागिता जनाउनेछन् ।”
“कात्तिक २३ गते भने बन्द सत्रको कार्यक्रम रहेको छ जसमा एम्नेस्टी प्रतिनिधिहरूले गत वर्षको आफ्नो मानवअधिकारसम्बन्धी कार्यहरूको प्रभावको बारेमा चिन्तन र छलफल गर्ने छन् र सन् २०२० का लागि प्राथमिकता र संस्थागत बजेटको निर्धारण गर्नेछन् । बन्द सत्रमा संस्थाको आर्थिक प्रतिवेदनलाई छलफल गरी अनुमोदन गर्ने तथा केही मानवअधिकारसम्बन्धी प्रस्तावहरूमाथि पनि छलफल चलाई पारित गर्ने कार्यक्रम रहेको छ”, थपलियाले बताए ।
एम्नेस्टी नेपालको अट्ठाइसौँ साधारण सभामा एम्नेस्टी नेपालका विभिन्न समूहमा आबद्ध करिब एक सए भन्दा बढी प्रतिनिधिहरू, बोर्डका सदस्यहरू, पुनरावेदन समितिका सदस्यहरू, पूर्व अध्यक्षहरू, कर्मचारी, स्वयंसेवक, पर्यवेक्षक तथा एम्नेस्टी इन्टरनेसनलको अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय बोर्ड र अभियानका प्रतिनिधिहरूको समेत उपस्थिति रहनेछ ।
Amnesty Nepal’s 28th AGM taking place in Dharan

Amnesty International Nepal (Amnesty Nepal) is organizing its 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Dharan sub-metropolitan city of Sunsari district on 8 and 9 November 2019. The gathering of Amnesty Nepal’s group representatives from across the country in Dharan this year aims to share a vision of taking actions towards ending the culture of deeply rooted impunity in Nepal by inspiring its members and supporters to “take injustice personally”.
Despite the recognition of a wide range of fundamental rights in the new constitution of Nepal, there is a long road ahead for the full realization of these rights by people, especially the marginalized communities given the slow pace of work and lack of progress in the framing of legislative and institutional mechanisms to give effect to these rights. Moreover, human rights violations of a varied nature are still on the rise domestically as well as in the international sphere, and Amnesty International Nepal’s gathering will seek to forge its human rights actions and strategies to confront these challenges.
“The inaugural of the AGM will take place on 8 November at 2:00 pm in the Hotel Gajur Palace, Dharan. Honourable Chair of the National Human Rights Commission Anup Raj Sharma will be the Chief guest of the event,” said Nirajan Thapaliya, Director of Amnesty Nepal.
“After the inaugural, the Amnesty delegates will also be part of a public action staged by Amnesty Nepal’s Youth Network based in Central Campus of Technology Dharan on an issue of violence against women.”
On 9 Novemeber, there will be the closed-door session where the Amnesty delegates will reflect upon the impacts of their actions in the previous year and will set priorities including the budget for the year 2020. The closed session will also discuss and endorse the organization’s financial report as well as some human rights resolutions, said Thapaliya.
Amnesty Nepal’s 28th AGM will be hosting over a hundred participants comprising of members from various groups of Amnesty Nepal, Amnesty Nepal’s Board and Appeal Committee members, former chairs, staff, volunteers, observers and deleagetes from the international movement.
