Amnesty Nepal to Launch a Nationwide CARAVAN on the Rights of Migrant Workers

Amnesty International Nepal is organising a nationwide public awareness and pressure campaign from 20 July on the rights of Nepali migrant workers. The campaign named “Migrant Workers’ Rights Caravan 2017” is scheduled to be launched from Kakarvitta, Jhapa.

The Caravan is focused specifically in the districts of Terai on the basis of the density of the migration outflow of youths for foreign employment and it is going to be organised in two phases: the first phase will start from Kakarvitta of Jhapa, and traverse through Birtamod, Damak, Biratnagar, Itahari, Inaruwa, Rajbiraj, Lahan, Janakpur, Jaleshwor and will end in Lalbandi on July 22. Likewise, the second phase of the campaign will commence from Chitwan on July 29, and will go through western districts of Nawalparasi, Rupandehi, Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali and will conclude in Kanchanpur on July 31.
