Amnesty International Nepal organized a programme on the 28th of January 2011, to launch the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International. In the program held in Dharan, the eastern city of Nepal, participants lit the candles placed in AI@50 shape. The program was coincided with AI Nepal’s 19th Annual General Meeting where representatives from AI Nepal’s local Groups across the country were gathered.
On the occasion, Regional Campaign Coordinator of Amnesty International Robert Godden started lighting candles and said that AI will mark its outreach among the new constituency in the years coming.
Amnesty International was founded by the British lawyer Peter Benenson in 1961 in the United Kingdom which spread all over the globe.
