On the eve of the International Women’s Day, Amnesty Nepal felicitated some grassroots women human rights defenders (WHRDs), honouring their brave human rights activism. At the informal luncheon gathering, 12 prominent WHRDs, some of whom were survivor-turned-activists shared their harrowing stories of suffering, their struggle to reclaim their rights and the hope and inspiration that this has imbibed to the larger community.
Amnesty Nepal Chair Bikram Dhukuchhu honored the WHRDs by draping them with shawls and offering a token of love. Amnesty Nepal recognises the struggle these brave WHRDs spearhead and stands in solidarity with them while requesting the authorities to ensure their safety and security and to respect their right to defend human rights.
