24 November, 2018
The Write for Rights campaign of 2018 is upon us. Amnesty International’s letter-writing and signature-collection drive will formally kick-off from 29 November and run until late December this year. In order to prepare for the campaign, Amnesty Nepal organised a one-day planning workshop for its Group and Youth members at Gaidakot, Nawalpur on 24 November.
The activists attending the workshop discussed about various methods and approaches for implementing the drive on the ground in order to achieve the highest number of actions this year.
Among the nine cases of women human rights defenders chosen for this year’s campaign, Amnesty Nepal has taken up six cases, plus a local issue of ongoing incidents of violence against women, particularly the growing incidents of rape and murder of girls urging supporters to write to the Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa to take all steps necessary to end the violence against women, address the culture of impunity and remove the one year statutory limitations for making complaints on cases of rape.
