12 November, 2014

Amnesty International launched its brief report about the rights of migrant workers in Qatar titled “No Extra Time: How Qatar is still failing on workers’ rights ahead of the World Cup” on 12 November.

The report outlines how the Qatari government has failed to reform the systems that facilitate the abuse of migrant workers and has made only minimal progress on a number of plans it announced in May 2014.

Amnesty International (AI) Nepal organised an event to release the report in Nepal. Surya Bahadur Adhikari, Chairperson of AI Nepal, launched the report at a programme in Kathmandu on 12 November. Rameshwar Nepal, Director of AI Nepal, made a detailed presentation about the report and described how migrant workers are facing  grave situation including forced labour and different forms of exploitation.
