Celebration of 52nd Anniversary of Amnesty International
Marking Amnesty International’s 52nd anniversary, a rally calling for an end of impunity organized in Kathmandu on 28 May 2013. The activists taking part in the rally also demanded truth, reparation and justice in the cases of human rights abuses during armed conflict in Nepal. They called on the government to ensure justice for victims.
The rally begun from Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu and passed through Putali Sadak, Bagbazar and finally reached at Shanti Batika, Ratnaparka before it converged into a corner gathering.
Concluding the rally Chairperson of AI Nepal Shambhu Thakur, Former Chairperson of Nepal Bar Association Shambhu Thapa, Advisor of AI Nepal Krishna Kandel, former Chairperson of AI Nepal Pradip Pokhrel and Chairperson of Human Rights and Peace Society Homkanta Chaulagain expressed deep concern about the existing impunity in the country.
Over 300 people from various walk of lives participated in the rally which carried the plea-cards bearing the slogans with the theme of ending impunity and protecting justice.
