Signature campaign calling for migrants’ rights

Amnesty International launched a signature campaign calling for labour and human rights of Nepalese migrant workers. Amnesty International announced launch of the signature campaign in the inaugural event of nationwide awareness raising campaign held on 21 March in Katmandu.

For the campaign Amnesty International has prepared petition targeted for all political parties for their consensus on safe migration, while it also has prepared a commitment paper for targeting political party leaders and Parliamentarian. In the first (the petition), signatures of cross section of society will be collected while Parliamentarian and political party leaders will be requested to sign the second (the commitment paper). Minister for Labour and Transport Management Sarita Giri started the campaign by signing the commitment paper. AI Nepal has targeted at least 25 thousand signatures in the petition.
