Young Activists Took Part in the National Youth MelaThe Third National Youth Mela (Camp) held at Sauraha of Chitwan district from 9-11 April 2009. During the three-day program, various indoor sessions and out-door activities were held. Under the indoor sessions, the participants were introduced to Amnesty International, the role of youth networks in AI campaign and leadership while more sessions on Thematic Networks of AI, Campaigning Framework and techniques and various aspects of Letter Writing were conducted. Likewise, special sessions to introduce participants about Amnesty International's Global Campaign on "Demand Dignity", which will be launched in May this year, were conducted. The participants also were introduced about campaigning techniques. Marie Ko from AI's Asia Pacific Office Hongkong, Keshab Sigdel and Uttam Sapkota from the National Executive Committee and Rameshwar Nepal and Bhola Bhattarai conducted those sessions. As part of the outdoor activities, the participants of the Mela took part in a demonstration demanding protection of women human rights defenders held at Narayanghat on 10 April. The participants were also taken to visit beautiful places of Sauraha during outdoor activities. On the occasion, the Chairperson Hem Kumar Khadka, Vice-chairperson Keshab Sigdel, General Secretary Shambhu Thakur, Deputy General Secretary Uttam Sapkota, Advisor Lokesh Dhakal, NEC Members Chet Narayan Bhusal, Nirmal Babu Shrestha and Yashoda Upadhyaya were present in the program.
