AI Nepal’s 18th Annual General MeetingThe 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Amnesty International (AI) Nepal held on 26 December 2009 in Bhairahawa adopting 3 special resolutions on different theme of human rights. The AGM also passed organization's activity and financial report unanimously. YOUNG ACTIVISTS URGED NEPAL GOVERNMENT TO IMPLEMENT ITS COMMITMENT MADE ON THE MDGsYoung human rights activists affiliated to Amnesty International Nepal urged Nepal government to implement its commitment made on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). By organizing a demonstration on 16 October on the occasion of International Day of Eradication of Poverty, the young activists emphasized that when there is less poverty, then there will be more possibility of better human rights situation. USA : ABOLISH DEATH PENALTYHundreds of people in Nepal urged the authority in the United States of America (USA) to take immediate steps towards abolishing death penalty in the USA. In a program that organized by the Nepalese Section of Amnesty International to mark 7th World Day Against the Death Penalty on 10th of October 2009, people from the different walk of life expressed their solidarity against the death penalty in the USA. |
