National Human Rights Commission Now Left Debilitated for a Year

Amnesty International issued a press statement today, expressing concern over the Nepali government’s failure to appoint new commissioners to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) for a year.

This has left the rights commission leaderless and unable to carry out its mandate and further shows a deeply disappointing lack of commitment to human rights and transitional justice, Amnesty International said.
